Privacy policy

Last updated 21 August 2026. This policy covers the Manasik website at manasikguide.com and the Manasik app for iOS and Android. They are one project and behave the same way.

The short version. We do not sell, rent, share or disclose your data to anyone. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. Everything you mark as done stays on your own device. The only information we ever receive is a message you deliberately type into the contact form — and even there, your email address is optional.

What stays on your device

Manasik keeps your progress in your browser's local storage on the web, and in the app's own on-device storage on iOS and Android. It is never uploaded, never synchronised, and never visible to us. That covers:

  • the pilgrimage you picked (Umrah, or Hajj as Tamattu' / Qiran / Ifrad);
  • which rites you have marked done or skipped;
  • your Tawaf circuit and Sa'i trip counts, with their timestamps;
  • which stages of the step-by-step guides you have marked as read;
  • your settings — appearance, English and Arabic text size, Arabic script.

Deleting the app, or clearing the site data in your browser, erases all of it permanently. There is no copy anywhere else for us to delete.

The contact & feedback form

The contact form is the one place Manasik collects anything, and it only runs when you choose to send a message. It submits:

  • Your message — required, since there is nothing to send without it.
  • A subject line — optional.
  • Your email address — optional. Leave it blank and the form still sends. We ask for it only so we can reply to you; if you do not want a reply, do not fill it in. It is never added to a mailing list, never used to market anything, and never given to anyone else.
  • Which app you wrote from — the word web, ios or android, so we can tell where a bug report came from. Nothing that identifies your device or you.

The message is delivered to a Google Apps Script endpoint that writes it into a private Google Sheet only we can open. Google processes it as our storage provider under their own terms; nobody else receives it. We read messages to answer questions and fix mistakes in the content, and for nothing else.

Want a message and its email address deleted? Write to us and say so — we remove the row.

What we deliberately do not do

  • No accounts, no sign-in, no passwords.
  • No analytics or measurement SDK, on the site or in the app.
  • No advertising, no ad identifiers, no ad networks.
  • No tracking, profiling, cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data brokers.
  • No cookies — the site sets none at all.
  • No location access, no contacts, no camera, no microphone, no photo library.
  • No selling or sharing of personal information, for money or for anything else.

Hosting

The website is served by Vercel, and its content — the rites, citations and guides — is static, so simply reading Manasik sends us nothing about you. Like any web host, Vercel records ordinary server request logs, which include the requesting IP address, for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to identify or profile readers, and they are not combined with anything else. The mobile app makes no network request at all unless you submit the contact form.

Children

Manasik is a reference for the rites of Hajj and Umrah and is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included, beyond a contact message somebody chooses to write.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Since Manasik is open source, the change is visible in the commit history too.
