Rites of Umrah العمرة

The lesser pilgrimage: ihram, tawaf, sa'i, then halq or taqsir. It may be performed at any time of year, and it carries none of the rites tied to Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina or the Jamarat. Most of its acts are shared with Hajj, so each rite below is the same sourced record used in the Hajj sections, with a “For Umrah” note wherever the ruling actually differs.

The rites without which the Umrah is not valid at all. Missing one cannot be repaired with a sacrifice — the pilgrim stays in ihram until it is performed.

Required acts that, if missed, are compensated with a dam (sacrifice) rather than invalidating the Umrah. Note that the Shafi'i school treats halq/taqsir as a pillar instead.

Recommended acts carrying no penalty if omitted, but they are how the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed his own four Umrahs.
